Low Back Pain
WHY ACUPUNCTURE?
There are many treatment methods and medications for pain relief. We could
safely say that everyone has at some point taken a pain relieving medication
or anesthesia treatment. These kinds of treatments and medications usually
work by relieving pain temporarily while the natural healing process takes
care of the actual disease.
Acupuncture
is a very powerful anesthesia. It works by stimulating the flow of the
Qi in the area being treated. In Traditional Eastern medicine theory,
pain is caused by an obstruction in the flow of Qi. Thus by stimulating
the qi of a specific area we are able to elevate the pain. In western
terminology, we can say that acupuncture treatment raises endorphin levels,
thus diminishes the nerve system’s pain response.
Acupuncture
is also a superior way of treatment, since it also stimulates the healing
process of the pain’s origin itself. And while pain relieving medication
need a gradual increase in dosage to maintain the desired effect, thus
a more danger to the toxic level, acupuncture has none of these problems.
ACTIVE ACUPUNCTURE AND LOW BACK PAIN
Acute or chronic low back pain can be caused by several reasons. It could be a disc herniation or just a tension caused by a strain in the back muscles.
In both cases Active Acupuncture is very effective in giving immediate relief from the ongoing pain the patient is suffering from. Usually the strong acute back pain is caused by the over-stimulation and over-sensitization of muscles involved with the pain region. By using the Active Acupuncture technique, we are able to immediately become free from the vicious strain cycle that is causing the pain thus relieving the patient from the continuous unnecessary pain.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WOULD I NEED? ^top
The frequency of acupuncture treatment required for effective results
varies considerably based on the specific condition being treated. For
acute symptoms like ankle sprains or muscle tensions, only a few sessions
may be needed for a complete recovery. Even symptoms that have lasted
for years may only need a few sessions of treatment to reduce the pain
substantially, but for complete and lasting results few months of continuous
treatment is recommended.
CAN
ACUPUNCTURE HELP WITH STRESS RELATED PAIN? ^top
Acupuncture treatment not only relaxes the patient’s muscle strains
stopping the pain itself, it also help regulate and relieve the emotional
and mental distress the patient might have accumulated. This is because
acupuncture works by regulating the Qi flow of the body. Since Qi affects
the body and also the emotional status of the person, acupuncture treatment
can also work as an anti-depressant or a mood enhancer.
Almost every person finds acupuncture treatment very relaxing and sedative.
Since acupuncture balances various parts of the body it results in the
person receiving the acupuncture treatment to become very relaxed and
sedated. This is why acupuncture is also used to treat insomnia, tension
and stress related diseases.
